We encourage everyone to find out the age for their tank, this can usually be done by simply giving us a call. It’s imperative to check with your insurance company to verify what age of tank will be covered in the case of a leak. In many cases insurance will not cover the cost of repairs or replacement if your tank is too old and they feel that it should have been replaced. In addition the the risk of leaks and damage, as your tank reaches the 10 year mark the efficiency, is significantly impacted. As tanks age, they build up sediment from years of heating water. This reduces the recovery rate of your hot water tank. It will cost you more on your energy bill the harder your tank works to heat up the water.
